Hello and welcome to my blog. I am a new student, starting a distance learning degree through the Open College of Arts, and I am going to blog about what I have learnt and my work. You may be visiting this blog expecting to see work for sale, however I am now concentrating on being a student and loving it! Come and join me for the ride.

Contrast skies and my first tricycle outing

Hi everyone, sorry it has been so long since I last blogged. I have just finished my newest piece of art, it called 'Contrast skies'. It is an original, hand drawn using soft pastels, view from my back garden. I was busy in the kitchen when the vivid orange caught my eye so I rushed outside to snap a photo. Here also is the photo I drew the piece from.

Today I had my first proper outing on my tricycle. It was an amazing birthday present last summer but today was the first chance I had at riding it. I am planning on many cycling trips with my camera to catch some roadside snaps. What do you think of it? The basket will come in very handy for my easel and picnic lunches I think.

Pull your socks up!!

I really need to pull my socks up, i've had an awful cold and have been wallowing on on the sofa rather than drawing. Ive currently got one piece of art at the framers and I can't wait to get it back to show to you all. But today is a new day, and I am determined to start somthing new. I have recieved a commission so need to get cracking with that too. I want to create somthing other than a drawing and have been inspired by a batch of cupcakes I made the other day. I want somthing to make them look a little bit special. So watch this space!

New drawing

Here is my latest drawing, Forest Blaze. I have just listed it in on my Folksy shop at www.folksy.com/shops.amyrose I saw this sunset while out walking Pickles the basset hound, one winter evening, and I have been meaning to draw it ever since. The clouds were illiminated so that they looked like florescent marshmellows floating in the sky. Hope you like it.

And please don't forget that I will take commissions, just email me your favourite shot and I will draw it for you, to whatever size you would like.

Palma street art

On a recent visit to Palma in Majorca I noticed some grafitti dotting the city walls. The simplicity of the grafitti, but also the brashness of creating it, I found fascinating. Here are some photos.

I also noticed this tile on the floor outside one of the shops, I think the colours are stunning and I intend to try and use the style in some ink drawings. On our wanderings, I spotted this old rustic looking sundial high up on a building wall. It is so simple, yet beautiful.

Pop up shop

I came across this article in my Look magazine about pop up shops and I think its such a good idea. Basically the webites list empty high street shop that are available to be used to showcase your products.

I also thought i'd share with you my current project that is in creation. This is me working on monday morning, the perfect bank holiday monday morning if you ask me. A nice cup of tea and my pastels. Although the dog was chasing the cat round the table legs so it was less than tranquil. I hope to list the finished picture this week in my shop at www.folksy.com/shops/Amyrose

Happy Easter

Happy easter everyone, unfortunately its a gloomy day here in Scotland. I was looking forward to going out and taking some new photos. So thought i'd post one of Pickles to introduce you all.

She is currently crying because the cat won't be friends, so I think a walk on the beach might be in order. Hopefully i'll get some snaps to draw.
